    I hate traveling

I have traveled a decent bit. I've been across the pond to London once, to the Caribbean, and all told maybe 40 plane flights in my life. I've done a few road trips here and there. I hate it. I came to the realization recently that I would prefer to minimize traveling, to maybe one trip per...

    Too good at my job

I think you should go full time but be cognizant that this could cause a few months of additional stress as you adjust to your new routine. I have changed jobs a few times and for me, when things change I am generally an unpleasant person to be around until I can optimize my routine.

    How to fall asleep faster

That is nothing new. You will always fall asleep faster when thinking about something trivial and non stressful. I try to think about my coral tank.

Being the lemon in the relationship

I am happily married and my wife is normal. I didn't really think of myself as odd but the more I have interacted with others over my 33 years its apparent that something isn't normal. My wife has knew me for about 8 years before we got married. She likes to be friends with everyone and do...

Coral reef aquariums were made for us

I don't think salt water fish or corals are that hard - but they are more difficult if you keep BOTH. The hobby gets a lot easier if the tank is not overstocked. Freshwater fish have the general "1 inch of fish per gallon" rule which is a good rule. But, saltwater tanks have the "1 inch per 2...

Coral reef aquariums were made for us

I have had a lot of hobbies over the years: - coin collecting (medieval England and anything Russian are my favs) - programming - assortment of nonfiction subjects - drones (awesome fun! but also expensive as they wear out even if you are a great pilot) - and now... Coral reef aquariums. This...

Does Having Intelligence Make It Difficult Connecting With People?

My two cents is I do not think they are mutually exclusive - intelligence and social ability. The most successful people I have ever met in my life are both highly intelligent (I'd say 130 IQ is enough as Nobel Prize winners tend to have at least that) and great at working with others. At...

    Hello - seeking job advice

Oh, I want to add that I think people tend to figure out something is up pretty quickly. I gave up on the eye contact thing attempts long ago. I could never figure out how to do it. People also figure out pretty quickly that I am only interested in talking/listening about hobbies. I'm willing to...

    Hello - seeking job advice

Yikes. Yeah I can totally get that most people would see it as an excuse. I am lucky in that I am a very aspie friendly field. I make credit score models so its very data oriented and I Excel at it (that's a joke, we use SAS actually). My ongoing/recurring issue is in my field, the ratio of...

    Hello - seeking job advice

Thank you I did just that and its been two weeks. My managers are the types that love meetings and verbal communication. I wanted weekly 1 on 1s as well (which is a requirement by the way) but I am settling for a weekly written e mail. So far, so good I guess.

    Hello - seeking job advice

I don't really like labels but at age 33 I can look back at my life and say that the construct of "being on the spectrum" would explain an awful lot. For a few years I was the smelly kid in high school, I never make eye contact or, knowing that's what others do, I stare intensely into eyes. I...
