Do loud sounds physically hurt you?

I have constant tinnitus, usually on my left side, sometimes on the right too, due to ear damage incurred as a child. Even though 1 or both of my ears have been ringing for 25 years I still am not used to it, it still bothers me, and on the rare occasion where I am not being driven slowly...

Another TV show with an Aspie

He might be potentially aspie, but he has been far too normalized with his substance abuse issues, and he has friends. While he was somewhat off he felt more like a hipster with issues than an aspie. Mind you the show is not a bad watch, I just do not empathize with the main protagonist as...

    Big Bang Eviscerated

Are you sure about that? If you take a simple wheel, and spin it at a set velocity, the center and out side rim are moving at the same speed, but the center is small so the distance it travels for its RPM is not very long, but the out side edge of the wheel is much larger, and still rotating at...

I also wonder how fast we are moving due to the rotation speed of the milky way, probably really fricken fast since we are a ways down one of its great long spiral arms. And then the galaxy itself is speeding along at some likely massive velocity.

Another side question, why is the speed of light a set speed? What happens when light is emitted from a star moving at speed? does the light coming out of the side of the star that it is traveling in that direction move away from the star more slowly then the light emitted in the direction it...

    Big Bang Eviscerated

Hey Mael, side topic question, everything is always in motion right, the earths daily rotation is moving us all faster then the speed of sound all the time, its orbit around the sun faster still, do you have any idea how fast our sun might be clipping along at? Or is figuring out what velocity...

    ultimate glass-cannon

I could do anything at all? I would find and question the source of existence, and depending on the answer I attain I would either eradicate humanity or all of existence itself. Why? To make the universe in general a better kinder place.

    Big Bang Eviscerated

Fair points. But then how could such limited creatures as we are ever understand infinity and eternity when it comes to the universe? It is a creature so massive it can not be seen in its entirety, so old that our 100 year lifespans do not even register with it as moments. If something out...

    Driving after drinking

Agreed, on the first offense they should inject a chip into the liver that causes pain when drinking too much, and install a device in the car that senses the chip and alc level and blocks said moron from driving while drunk.

Reconsidering my move to Los Angeles

Cali has horrible state taxes, and much higher living expenses such as rent, compared to other places in the u.s.a. If you can afford to live there no problems, but just realize that what you save living somewhere else could add up by the time you retire.
