Problems at work...seems like a dead end for ASD in the workplace :(

Unfortunately I know exactly how you feel. It always starts with a Performance improvement plan, then write-ups then termination. I received the first PIP at my job today... UGH. The reasoning for their PIP is the following: Unable to resolve conflict with co-workers and needs supervisor to...

    What are your stims?

When I'm sitting I bounce my leg up and down, when standing I sway. I bought an "Irish worry stone" so I could do something less obvious. Still getting used to that.

My son was diagnosed Aspergers today

When he writes his recommendation he won't use the term - he'll call it autism spectrum. I just need to navigate this to get my son the help he needs. He's going into 6th grade.

Hi! Son recently diagnosed with Aspergers.

Yeah my son was just diagnosed as well. I was diagnosed 2 months ago. While we share some traits (sensitivity to sounds and textures) we are not really alike. My son misses social cues that are really easy like "hey how are you doing" - and he doesn't know to respond ... mine is that I can't...

My son was diagnosed Aspergers today

He is DEFINITELY Aspie... I was diagnosed 2 months ago and took him to a different provider and they saw it in him as well. Now what? I am hoping to get the school to accomodate him better. Has anyone here gone through the hoops with schools yet?

    How Do You Handle Discrimination?

I have issues at work also - "interpersonal skills" and sometimes having meltdowns. I have a charge nurse who is always on my case and constantly looking over my shoulder. She frequently calls me on the phone and finds me to ask if I need anything.... I think she realizes that this throws me...

    Not surprised

Hi everyone, I was diagnosed when I walked into a new therapist's office. I have been having a lot of trouble with work... no matter what career I choose, I always seem to have interpersonal issues - HA! I discovered that the leg bouncing I do is my "stim" and my meltdowns always start when...
