Autistic "Hyperfocus". How does it work?

Also I think degree of hyperfocus can depend on one's executive functioning and intellectual abilities. These vary in autistic and ADHD folks so like, not everyone has the same level of ability to hyperfocus in different contexts.

Autistic "Hyperfocus". How does it work?

As an Aspie with ADHD, I did learn how to redirect my hyperfocus. But it wasn't easy. I use stimming to remain focused. Interest greatly helps in easing hyperfocus. But the other factor for me is rigid determination. If I get interrupted, I freeze and it feels like my world is ending. It can...

Do you know the name for this? Or do you do this too?

LOL My modified scripting (as Idk what else to call it) is often random. But my brain feels the need to do it because it feels good. Like, I mimic Cosmo's voice from the Fairly Odd Parents. I'll often say similar things to what the character might say or modify the script using different words...

Do you know the name for this? Or do you do this too?

I have this habit of vocal stimming since childhood where I repeat cartoon phrases. However, I would modify them, such as changing a word, or putting a different phrase to the character's speech pattern from the original phrase. I'd use this to communicate, make others laugh, mask my anxiety...

Requesting Link to Specific YouTube Channel

Hey y'all, there used to be this YouTube channel I would watch where a 50 y/o woman would podcast about "what it's like to be autistic." She'd always say, "I'm your host, Shelly." Now, I can't find her channel for the life of me, and I miss it. Do any of you know what I'm talking about? Is that...

    Friendship Quotient?

Yeah LOL. I have the PDF with scoring instructions (thanks for providing it here for others). It's just that the way the instructions are formated, my audio screen reader cannot read accurately. So like, I'm only able to read fragments of the instructions :O

    Friendship Quotient?

Yeh, that's what I mean. The online test links to the RBQ-2A instead of the FQ. The only FQ available is a self-score PDF. Alas!

    Friendship Quotient?

So... Does anyone know where one could take an online autoscored version of the Friendship Quotient? The FQ link on the Aspie Tests site is broken and so is their contact link. The Gorilla version of the FQ on some university website just takes you back to the main list of tests instead of...

    Persistent symptoms with no explanation

My partner has these same symptoms actually. Multiple causes. Maybe ask your doctor about myalgic encephalomyelitis (chronic fatigue syndrome), diabetes incipidis (where your body doesn't make enough antidiarrhetic hormone), and GERD or IBS.

The last thing that made you laugh

Or changing the "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers" alliteration into a sentence about poop!

The last thing that made you laugh

Idk. Everything makes me laugh so it's hard to remember. I could be surprised by a random mental image generated from my own brain and start laughing. The last mental image I remember was a teacher talking with a "Blahblahblah" trail coming from his thought bubble, fading into a ZZZZZZZ thought...
