A book for Aspies by Aspies?

I would love to contribute to this project. I certainly have a story to tell.

    Playing music in your head

I play music in my head almost constantly. It's usually something by Sigur Ros and I tend to loop the same part of the song over and over. Sometimes I can hear a song once and then learn lyrics just from hearing it in my head over and over. This is particularly strange if the lyrics are in...

    March 2011 Autscape Newletter

I am seriously considering attending this year. The only thing that puts me off is the cost. I'm certainly going to try and find out more about Autscape as it seems really interesting.

Study says we like to pick our own activities!

So, according to this "study", autistics prefer to choose what activities they participate in. Wouldn't his apply to anybody? I can see how this would particularly apply to autistics as we tend to be particularly motivated with a particular subject. I know what kind of leisure activities I would...

    Autism is genetic....

Autism genetic? I never had a doubt. A few people in my family have autistic traits and they seem to have converged into me.

Defeating aspergers is possible ! Don't give up !

I started making more friends the moment I stopped trying to "defeat" Aspergers. Trying to be somebody else was the worse thing I could possibly have done. People know that I do things which can appear a little out of place, but they tell me if I have done something really silly and I apologise...

The Post a Photo of Yourself Thread

Okay, here I am. I also had a passport photo taken earlier. I'm pretty sure I'll look at that same photo in 2021 (when my passport expires) and belch at the sight of my greasy teenage hair. Oh well!

    Talking To Girls or Women

Here we go again! I think the saddest thing about this thread is that although it offers great advice, I see that I would have to put on an act to impress any girl. Perhaps there is a girl out there who would love me for who I am, but I'm sure I would have to travel the world in order to find...

    Anxiety Attacks

I always go for walks in this situation. I sometimes go to my friends house. His bedroom is in a garage at the bottom of the garden and I just let myself in and watch TV with him. Otherwise I just go for a very long walk. I don't get panic attacks that badly, so my advice is probably useless...

    Do Aspies like other Aspies

I think parts of this thread show that aspie's don't always like other aspie's, but NT's don't always like NT's. I have known aspie's I really get along with, and I have known those who really get on my nerves. I think it would be interesting to have an aspie friend with similar interests to...

What to do when they bully you?

When I get bullied, the bullies ask me lots of questions they know I can't answer quickly. They seem to have picked up on the fact that I don't think on my feet very well. I recently found that I can retaliate by simply asking them questions back. I respond to their question with another...

    Stimming

Yeah, I would regard those as stims. I don't think I notice my stims most of the time. I stim a lot in private and honestly thought everyone stimmed like me when excited. It turns out they don't.

So what do you people HERE think of Temple Grandin?

I have learned a lot from Temple. She is an inspiration to me and she talks a lot of sense. I am also a highly visual thinker so I can relate a lot to the way she thinks. I've seen the HBO film and I intend to show it to others. I have seen a lot of her video's about autism and animal handling...

What do you call your parents????

Mummy, Daddy, Nanny, Granddad respectively. When I used to teach swimming at my Mums swimschool and she was teaching at the other end of the pool, I would wave my arms to get her attention because I didn't want to shout mummy.
