    Autistic Burnout--what was it like?

With me, I was working at a school for deaf children. (I was decades away from learning I'm autistic.) I had always made sure I had lots of alone time, because being around people all the time was draining. I didn't know why, back then I just accepted that I was weird and had figured out what I...

    Post something Weird or Random

Speaking of camping, I'm at my remote camp again tonight. Saw an LED string for $5 that runs on 2 AA batteries. Since it's almost Christmas, I put them up in my cabin. They actually light up the screen room surprisingly well Yeah, I still have to take my meds when I camp. Getting old can be...

Hey! I have one of those fans! I use it for warm weather camping. Usb charging, runs a good while on a charge.

    Do you like being autistic?

I'm pretty much an open book. Better to ask than assume.

Grandmother scammed out of money intended to support her autistic grandson.

I tie them up with nonsense so their time is wasted and they can't scam as many people

    Flashcards vs reading---Worthwhile when tired?

I never had to study till I reached Georgia Tech. That was unfortunate, because I had not developed study habits. I had to develop study habits while "drinking from the firehose".

    Flashcards vs reading---Worthwhile when tired?

Oh no! That will never do! You have to suffer for your education! Now go back and do it properly! (Sorry, that's my inner School Marm speaking.)

She is 82 and was trying to set up a finances to support her autistic grandson who is unable to take care of himself. A Gofundme account has been set up for the grandson. PM me if you...

Which approaches help you more when memorizing new material?

Indeed. Doesn't seem fair. At my last job, I came in on time, did my work, stayed out of the drama, and went home. Nothing really special on my part. Yet I was always rated "Top Talent" on my annual reviews and always got the maximum merit increase in pay each year. Go figure.

    Your pseudo-skills?

That's my approach as well. When there are still people to deal with, I am a polite NPC (non playing character). I answer questions, open doors, pick up objects they drop, etc. But I don't initiate interaction.

    Your pseudo-skills?

    How are you defining 'clanger'?

    Brevity...tips?

Pretty much the same. It's rare that what I first write is what others actually see. I was required to take an effective writing class in the Air Force. It pretty much covered these ideas.

    Do you like being autistic?

Depends how you define girlfriend. There was a girl from my church who took it in her head that I was her future husband. I had no romantic interest in her, but I didn't want to be rude or hurt her feelings, so we had a very one-sided "relationship" for a few months. We only ever saw each...

Beginning friendships - mutual initiation, or not??

You give me too much credit. At the family holiday gatherings, I am very quiet unless one of the two techie relatives is there. Then we'll find a corner somewhere and update each other on our tech interests. Small talk dodged.
