    Evaluation and Diagnosis?

I recently talked to my mom and gave her a very detailed list of characteristics in males and females with Aspergers. She is now listening to what I have been saying this entire time and said that she has always known something was different, she just wasn't sure what that was. She also wants to...

How Do You Deal with Judgmental People Who Don't Understand?

I have this problem, especially with my friend's mom. I am self-diagnosed for now and my mom is working on getting me an evaluation because after me having read some of the information on females, she agrees and even thinks she may have Aspergers. My friend's mom is a special education teacher...

    Aspies and good hearing ?

Background noises make everything harder for sure. And..it's agreed that the smell of people is strong.

    Aspies and good hearing ?

In a way I would be glad that you're hearing is not nearly as sensitive because it can be overwhelming and hurt like crazy. Then people think you are crazy because they can't hear the noises. Example: electrical outlets make an unbearable buzzing sound.

    A love for noises?

Now that I think about it, when I can control noise I am fine too. I think maybe it is just that he likes loud ad when the loud is gone...he has a meltdown, but when the noise is loud..I have a meltdown, so either way, my parents don't know how to handle it.

    A love for noises?

See and they drive me crazy and make me have meltdowns but I love the way a bouncy ball sounds when rolled back and forth on a hard surface. I could listen to that forever.

    A love for noises?

Okay. So basically as long as you can influence them. Because..my brother loves loud and I can't stand it..which become problematic when he's causing loud sounds and I can't leave the room or anything.

    A love for noises?

What if it is where you have control of how loud things can be on a game or something?

    A love for noises?

I should have said sounds, but was thinking noises at the time because my brother screams and yells all the time. He always has to have the sounds up on game systems or the TV. He says it makes things more real...

    A love for noises?

Believe me, I completely understand. It almost as if by making some noises yourself...they balance out. However..I wish that was my reaction. Instead I cover my ears and close my eyes and sometimes if the noises are too intense I go into a meltdown or rage..

    A love for noises?

It's the same for me. Everyone else in the house will think the tv is just right or not loud enough and I'm covering my ears because the sound is too loud. Of course, it's not just the tv nor is it just loud noises - not loud for others anyway. The hum of electrical outlets, people eating -...

    A love for noises?

I have hyperacute hearing and my brother also shows some traits of aspergers, but LOVES lots of loud noises. Is this what others experience too? I know everyone on the spectrum is different and am just wondering if there are some who just...LOVE lots of noise.

    Aspies and good hearing ?

That's what I usually do. If I want to listen to the words..I can't listen. I have to mute the computer and find a lyric video. I've always wanted to play piano just because of the way it sounds. Mine is the same way except...time periods I obsess over don't have music (dinosaur periods..)...

    Hi...

Or they just think you have behavioral issues. I know my friend's mom always yells at me because I'm being rude or because I get upset easily, but then she gets even more angry because I cover my ears and close my eyes to calm down because if I rage she just gets worse....

    Aspies and good hearing ?

I do this as well and I think it's because my brain is processing the sounds in the actual music rather than the lyrics and sometimes listening to songs is too much for me to handle.
