Obsessions/Addictions and Aggression - Need Advice

He has hit us with the iPad. But he hasn't tried to directly break any of them. If we use the devices around him, he'll try to steal them, and will get aggressive with us while doing so.

Obsessions/Addictions and Aggression - Need Advice

I haven’t been able to get on the computer long enough to respond to each of you. But I have read YOUR responses and appreciate them. Thank you so much for taking the time to type them up!!

    Looking at the ground

My son looks at the ground when he walks. It seems to serve different purposes. In a crowded area, it’s clearly to avoid eye contact or unwanted conversation, especially because we usually have something we are going to look at - a mission to accomplish. When outside, it’s to keep his balance...

Obsessions/Addictions and Aggression - Need Advice

Thank you - I appreciate your honesty. We've talked with psychiatrists, ABA therapists, and developmental pediatricians with no success. I'm not sure where to turn about finding another therapist who specializes in autistic teenagers. But I need to keep looking! Thanks again.

Obsessions/Addictions and Aggression - Need Advice

Thank you all SO much for your responses. I'm going to quote part of your posts to make it easier to respond. No, we haven't tried that. Yes, we have tried a behavior specialist. He is on a number of medications. We have tried many things over the course of three years. It’s scary, and there are no real alternatives for help at this point. The idea of him going to a kid’s jail is so scary. Plus he truly is emotionally eight or...

Obsessions/Addictions and Aggression - Need Advice

So let me give an example. X loves the Disney show Special Agent Oso. But this is one show that never made it to Disney+. It is only available on Amazon Prime to stream. He has gotten aggressive over wanting it many times. I managed to get him redirected today after literally over an hour...

Obsessions/Addictions and Aggression - Need Advice

Hi Everyone, I truly need advice, insight, and suggestions. But the background for this is long. So if you make it through, you are a saint. My son: X is 15, but is emotionally around 7. He has severe autism, a speech impairment (speech is clear, high vocabulary, long sentences, just not very...

    Hello!

Thank you all so much. We have felt so alone. I’m going to create a post under general autism. I’m unable to use a computer when he is around so will either post in sections on my phone or post this evening. Seriously, thank you for the warm welcome.

    Hello!

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum. I do not have autism myself, but my son does. He just turned fifteen, and we are going through a really rough patch of years with him. I'm desperately trying to find a place where I can ask for some advice with regards to his obsessions/addictions and related...
