Hello, I am starting a relationship with someone who has Aspergers.

There is nothing wrong with that. Its better to like someone for their whole self, than to like someone for a particular aspect of them. I think you just need to learn as much about him as possible and see if you are well matched.

My time working for a steel company

In the mid 90's I was working on a help desk for a steel company North of Pittsburgh. We worked 2 weeks of 6 AM to 6 PM shifts, then 2 weeks of 6 PM to 6AM shifts and a week of 8AM-5PM shifts. We mostly supported VAXes in the 5 levels of computer hierarchy. Most of you have no idea what a VAX...

Hello, I am starting a relationship with someone who has Aspergers.

I married my wife in 2007 and never thought about autism. About 6 months into the pandemic and working at home with my wife everyday, my wife wondered out loud about whether or not I am on the spectrum. Eventually, I got diagnosed and here I am. Ideally, you should just try to get to know him as...

    Bridges

Great pictures. There are a lot of pictures that you could have also included. Like the Negley Ave bridge with some 4x4 wood posts that might or might not be responsible for holding the bridge up.

Invited by Coworker to Dinner Party - Don't Want to Go, But They Won't Take No for an Answer

For me it can be really hard going to an event where you are the only person not coupled. I wonder how much of the insistence that you go comes from it being your fathers company and maybe you being there might gain this person some advantage, whatever that would look like. While you can firmly...

Hello I am Upset that it took so long to find out this is why i am !!!!

I also was diagnosed at 55. I didn't think about it until my wife said something in 2020 after working at home together for 6 months. Once she mentioned it a lot of things that I had experienced suddenly made sense. While my life would have been different if I had known sooner, probably for the...

I probably should have spoken up sooner...

In Pittsburgh, we sometimes have celebrities in town. A few years ago I was working near my house. During my lunch hours I would take long walks through the east end. One one day in particular, I was about 30 minutes late getting back, but I was a little tired. So I decided to stop and get a...

    Learning To Code

Python is a great scripting language. I mostly do BASH and Perl. But I would encourage you to learn Python. The advantage of a high level language like Python is that you don't need to do much for memory management. If you leanr C or C++, you need to learn to manage the memory that you allocate...

Database building questions from a novice

If you do online banking, your bank might allow you to save your spending history as a spreadsheet. You can import a spreadsheet into Microsoft access and build views and forms on that spreadsheet. Doing something like this will mean that you don't have to manually enter the data. Good luck.
