    Does anyone do this....

Thanks for the insight, gonzerd. It helps me understand her more. I realized a while ago with her it's much better to tread softly and be very patient. If she feels pushed she will act out. She has fought me before and it's hard to get her to calm down when she gets that way. And most of the...

Asperger's - Perfect vision + Perfect Hearing - Sensory Issues

I have perfect vision. Was told by an eye doctor once that he was amazed because glucoma runs in my family bad. He even told me it may hit me all of a sudden, which is scary. I went to see him when I was pregnant was was seeing weird lights. My eyes are really sensitive to light at night. When...

    What are your sleep problems?

My daughter is a very restless sleeper. She falls out of the bed a lot so I make sure there is nothing laying around that will hurt her. She was recently put on sleeping meds because her ADHD meds won't let her fall asleep. But the ADHD meds have really helped so far. I just hate giving her so...

    Does anyone do this....

Thanks guys. I talked to the new therapist yesterday and they said it could be a coping mechanism. There are a LOT of issues with her dad and his mom. Since they've started going back up there for visitation, she's starting to call herself stupid and ugly again and I had gotten her out of that.

Comment by 'ajoycew' in 'You Ought to Write A Book!'

I have been told many times that I should write a book about my life. People say that it would sell a lot because so much has happened to me and it's amazing that I am still sane. But I don't know where to start. I look back and if I start with my birth (I was born with a severe birth defect...

Talking in front of the class and answering questions

I've always hated speaking to a class or answering questions. Even when the answer is right there in front of me and I just have to read it. I get so nervous the words get caught in my throat. Once in English class at college it was my turn to read the next sentence and then tell where I would...

Do you get anxiety before entering a room with people in it?

I get nervous before entering a building or waiting room. When I'm late for an appointment, most of the time I'll turn around and go back home. I get mad at myself for it because I let it bother me so bad. Me and my boyfriend have been going to a local auction on the weekends and I get really...

Do you have issues/dislike talking on the phone?

I have not been diagnosed as an Aspie but my daughter has. I have been thinking about my life and I have been talking to my therapist about the possiblity of me being an Aspie too. I have a huge anxiety when it comes to phones. I like talking to my mom, my boyfriend and my daughters when they...

    Mommy to an Aspie boy!

My daughter is 9 and about 3 months ago was diagnosed with Asperger's, ADHD and ODD. I've known something was going on with her since she was 3 years old, but I had no idea what. I was in a very emotionally abusive marriage. My ex husband was really hard on her and called her stupid every day. A...

    Does anyone do this....

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I do worry about her making sores on herself and she says they don't hurt. I will see if I can redirect her "stims" to something less harmful for her. I hadn't thought of trying that. But we do talk a lot about her Asperger's since we know there is a term...

    Does anyone do this....

My 9 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with Asperger's, ADHD and ODD. Her councelor also thought she had OCD but she wasn't diagnosed with it. When she was 3 she started to pick and peel the skin off of her hands and feet. She said she didn't like how her skin felt so she just pulled it...

    New Here :)

Hello, my name is Andrea. My 9 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, ADHD, and ODD. I had never heard of Asperger's before. I am seeing a therapist also and through learning about this diagnosis for Marie, I am noticing I have a LOT of these characteristics also. As...
