Finally decided to move on from my ex-Aspie

I concur completely, you are quite amazing :) I also think you are doing the right thing. I know this sounds terrible to NT's, but everything in life is a business transaction. Everything we do must have a certain benefit to it, and it sounds like you've realized that. There is no benefit, no...

Do most Aspies live in the moment?

That describes my perception perfectly. The past is pain, the future is unknown, and I am forced to live in the present. So I do the best I can.

    Emotional isolation?

Maybe 2 or 3 times ever, where I let my guard down, actually was "me" and thought I was finally able to be honest about what I felt, thought I had a connection with that person. And I can only think of one time where the person responded like they were actually able to process what I told them...

Are you content in your isolation?

This is how feel a lot of the time. Being lonely is a continual sadness, the hurt is crushing. But it's better than the stress and pain of trying to associate with people. After a while the rejection is too much to bear, so you learn to accept and adjust to being alone. At least for me, I don't...

Does anybody else twist/cross/stretch their fingers?

I have no idea why :-) I do that and "crack" my knuckles all the time. I always assumed it was a way to get rid of tension and stress.

    Pain Threshold

If Lyme is caught fast enough, I think the damage is almost nothing. But you can't go years with some issues :-)

    Pain Threshold

Pretty high pain threshold. I always have joint and muscle pain from Lyme Disease when I was younger, it took the dr's 3 years to figure out what I had and by then the damage was done.

Does anybody else twist/cross/stretch their fingers?

Yup, I do the same thing with my fingers :-) I'm constantly stretching my hands and fingers.

NT needs advice RE: AS ex boyfriend

We all hurt and mourn, just in our own way. This is a great place I think to get emotional support. The folks here understand better than most people, and I think it's helpful to approach hurt from a logical understanding of the issue. Trying to understand the "why" and being able to discuss...

NT needs advice RE: AS ex boyfriend

Yup, don't leave anything open to interpretation, say exactly what you need. Nice and to the point :-)

NT needs advice RE: AS ex boyfriend

Like I said before, we don't tend to attach emotions like a NT would to questions and answers, if you want to try to get him to understand he provides for everything you want in a relationship, then you should tell him, and ask him will he be your friend like he is now but with a label of...

NT needs advice RE: AS ex boyfriend

You say that you divorced your ex wife because your wife needs something you cannot provide her. These are the same exact kind of words my ex used on me when he broke up with me. He told me I was needy-er than he could provide and that I needed to find someone who could give me what I wanted...

NT needs advice RE: AS ex boyfriend

So very true, we are all so different, but "extreme" does seem to be the common thing.

NT needs advice RE: AS ex boyfriend

Oh, and I forgot to say I'm doing this during the conversation too, so I'm processing the actual conversation and every possible outcome I can so I am prepared to answer as "normal" as I can.

NT needs advice RE: AS ex boyfriend

Yup :-) Even more so than that, after the people have left, start running your actions and conversation in an instant replay, while calculating every response to any eventuality of the conversation. And with every question asked, did I look at their eyes enough, did I blink enough, was the tone...
