  • Has anyone ever had a past doctor, therapist, or psychiatrist tell you that your weight is your fault and then you start to believe it and the tons of pills you were taking wasn't the reason why you were gaining so much weight. And now you think of yourself as a huge lard and ugly? Has this happened to anyone?

I'm a skinny guy, and I gained 3 stone in a few weeks on mirtazapine. I just slept & ate. Never satisfied with either.

Stopped taking them after 6 weeks or so. Then couldn't sleep for over half a week.

Sleep and food are appealing when struggling. Maybe the side effects were oddly therapeutic.

Usually, there is not much value in assigning fault in this situation. I think it would have been more helpful for your doctor to help you connect specific behaviors to weight gain and discuss ways to mitigate that while taking certain medications. I’m sorry you’re not feeling good about your appearance. Maybe we can support you in making changes and feeling better.
