My turn to have something nice...

I hated my drippy crappy chrome cakepan filter box...This flanged and barbed filter mount was machined from a solid aluminum round and fitted to the Harley carbonator...it was polished to shine like the rest of my aluminum on my engine
I've been wanting to change the air filter on mine, but I can't justify the price they're asking. Right now I'm using the original, traditional Harley can with a K&N filter. It works good, but it's ugly.

My filter element cost $14.99 @ Autozone and is cotton gauze like an aircraft filter...the aluminum was just a machineshop drop from another production job I had leftover...scrap price value less than $2 a pound...it required having the machines to make it and about one hour of my time...

Cost: less than $20...Value: priceless...for everything else, there's MasterCard

Ooooooh! Oh to have the machines to do that. I have the CAD skills but I'm sure it is just a special kind of feeling to hold your work in hand and feel the weight of it.
