I didn't know Vulcan used to be at the fairgrounds back then. I grew up about a mile and a half from the fairgrounds back in the 60s and 70's. I did know that the zoo used to be at Avondale park though, I found that out when we moved two houses up from it in the 90s.

BTW, back in the 80's the gate to the BIR track wasn't locked and a bunch of use used to take our cars and drive them on it. I drove my pro-stock Mustang on it many times for fun. We also used to go to the parking lot there and do donuts. I remember hearing the races there on weekends from my bedroom. It was that close. And in the spring and fall when they had the fair, I could see the fireworks from my bedroom window.
