FAMILY?

Blog details

How many people who have Asperger's have family that don't care about them. When I was in my thirties and forties, I was homeless many times. My parents and brothers never lifted a finger to help me. Now I am in my early sixties and my parents are dead. Even now, my brothers never call me to see how I am doing. They know I am lonely and live in poverty.

People have been watching The Simpson's for years now. But compared to my family, Homer Simpson's family is the most caring family in the world. I remember when my grandmother was alone and lonely. I would talk to her nightly when she called. I would go over and spend the weekends with her. I guess I was not as lucky.

I wish I could adopt a family that cared. I would divorce the one I have now. When you have Asperger's, it is difficult not being alone. You get depressed. When there are people who care about you enough to just call and talk, that is great.

What do others do when their families abandon them?
