They are, they're completely harmless and even if they bite you it doesn't hurt. Most Aussies will refuse to hurt one, they're much loved and they also help keep the insects down around your home.

They don't use a web to catch prey the way other spiders do, they just chase after things and grab them. Insects, small lizards and frogs, mice if they're small enough. Pretty much anything that moves.

I was just going to say they are actually shy, but outdated beat me to it

When I worked at a feed mill I would see them in the office, I would shine my headlamp on them and their eyes would reflect the light ... It was kinda cool and creepy

Edit: The spiders I saw at work were actually wolf spiders, my bad!
