Im not surprised you're bored, that's no good, you're not there to make tea. Politely raise the issue when you're feeling stable and if nothing changes volunteer somewhere else. Try not to wait until you have lost the ability to cope with the situation. People respond to emotional energy and not words, therefore remaining calm when negotiating with management is vital.

If you are forced to quit do it on good terms for the reference and have something lined up so you don't sink into inactivity, that's quicksand for your mental health.

Are there any volunteer agency's, could they find something that will include a man with complex needs*?

That's really wrong. Can you find somewhere else to volunteer?
