I hate when people are vague like that. I applied to do volunteer work and was turned down with the vaguest of letters. When I called, they wouldn't tell me what was the problem. I just wanted to know if they had an issue with me, or they didn't need someone right then.

It may have been that they were trying to be kind to me. If there was a particular something in my profile that made them not want me as a volunteer, it could be that they didn't want to hurt me by explaining.
