Hi Rodafina, and TripleU. I've been focusing on other things recently but I still have a strong interest in the forum, and in the community here. Currently I'm trying to assemble a website with the lessons I have learned about myself over the past 12 months, it might end up being a useful resource for others.

I've also lost nearly 20 Kg in weight and grown the hair back but I've lost the beard.

@Outdated , I like that you are making a site, I am passively trying to continue the CSSZenGarden which was a website but had 200 amazing themes you could use on it show what CSS is capable of.

@Outdated , your beard loss is the worst loss.

It grows back quickly enough when I want it too, but thanks for the comments. And I'm glad to see that you've become a regular part of the community here. I hope life is getting a little easier for you these days.

I haven't put up an actual website just yet, at the moment just writing the content to go in it. Once I've got everything together putting up a website only takes a couple of hours, putting together what you want to put on that site takes a lot longer.

@Outdated , so you are using a CMS like WordPress, my CSSZenGarden thing requires writing all the code by hand, and did more things on my own to make it more fun.

No, I use a simple text editor and write most of my own html. I'm lazy enough to just copy sections of script from other sites too. I haven't decided what I'll do for design yet, probably just download a free template and edit it to suit my tastes. Working out what I want to say on a website is a different matter and takes a lot more thought.

@Outdated , the design is my favourite part, doing it on your own is fun, and copying scripts from other sites, hope you can understand that code, if you are doing something very specific like me, you have to write by hand and rewrite to improve it. I don't think writing pure html is good, using a framework is good and if you site is just content then WordPress seems like the best choice.

You're right about understanding the code, very important. But I've been doing this for a while now. :) I really hate wordpress by the way, I hate editing online too because the lag (no matter how minor) really annoys me. So I work offline and upload updates as I feel like it.

What I'm working on at the moment will just be a static informational collection of pages and the only public interaction will be by email or online forms to send messages. It's not a thing I want to spend a lot of time on managing it later.

@Outdated , you might be the only other person who can feel something that I can when I look at low level code or code that looks old, hard, running the world. Do you feel the same? Your website feels like that.

That simple old code does still run the world. There's a lot more that we can do these days, especially with multimedia, and there's a lot more functions we can use, but it still all relies on the same old code developed many decades ago.
