Also very alarming that YouTube/Google would want to be bodyshaming anyone of any shape or size... but I'm a size 12/14, which is the *average* size for a woman in the US. If the Internet is trying to tell any woman that it's not even okay to be average, that is extremely messed up and raises all kinds of ethical questions about AI.

I blow up at YouTube content, and random people who tell me about dating younger men then me, when l told them l don't date.

Sorry you feel bodyshamed, in Florida, you would be considered regular size.

If you look at clothes online through say an android phone it's quite possible it Google will plug this info into it's algorithm. It's not so much I think that it pushes anti body positivity, more that the algorithm looks at the sorts of videos other people watch. Sadly anti body positivity videos may very well be viewed by people who have internalised negative messages...

...and they watch those sorts of videos. In a way the algorithm is reflecting attitudes in society and as a result promoting them :-(

I think that's most likely the case :( That's almost worse...
I know how hard it is to get out of the spiral of internalized body hatred, because I struggled with anorexia when I was in college. But it is possible to overcome it, by seeking treatment. I hope that anyone who is dealing with that kind of self-hatred and any type of addiction will seek help and recover. It's really hard and scary but it's worth it.

Truthfully, companies have to promote that we shouldn't be happy, otherwise they can't ram makeup, trendy clothes, hair products, weight loss uppers, the latest cars, botox. Our society is you feel bad, and buy into consumerism and corporate America is happy.

Yeah, if the algorithm isnt given something to look at (aka, your Youtube viewing history), it'll just sort of go all generic on you. It doesnt know what else to do, so its default is just "whatever is being clicked right now"
Misery

The dumb part is, the algorithm has no idea WHY anyone clicks on things. A lot of videos get by on "rage clicks", putting up content that they KNOW gets people angry... but because those angry people click on it, the algorithm thinks they like it, and up it goes, front page....

So... yeah. Always be logged in on Youtube, or you get a tornado of random stupid on the front page. That's my advice here. And be sure to tell it "I dont like that" when those sorts of videos do pop up.

I still don't see any reason for you to be ashamed of that body. If I thought you were interested I'd be all over you like a bad rash. :)

For years the YouTube algorithm kept suggesting videos to me on Autism. I guess it looked at my watching habits etc, compared them to other people's. It works on probabilities as I found out watching a documentary a few years ago. So I guess it looked at what I was watching and compared it to other people and thought that there was a high probability videos on autism would be relevant to me :)

Is bad rash the same as soy sauce on rice? Lol

@Outdated I am not ashamed of my body at all lol, that's why I get so frustrated when people try to tell me I should be!
