I have been having the same problem with Thanksgiving for the last 8 years . It just feels off not having my grandparents and no matter what I do to make it feel the same , I can’t.They used to host Thanksgiving. I just end up thinking about them the whole time and not enjoying what’s around me .
I don’t know how to break this cycle of thoughts .

Yeah I used to spend Christmas with someone too, now I don't and it's just an emptiness there.

Sadly I can relate. Christmas was never the same for me after 1977.

My father died on Wednesday, December 13, 1978.
My mother died on Wednesday, December 13, 2006.

Leaving the month of December largely something to just get through and little else.
