When I was a teenager no one asked me for ID until after I turned 18. It was a different world back then though, everyone knew we were underage but if we weren't causing any trouble no one saw any harm in it. We are old enough to drive a car and to work for a living at 16, but not to vote or have a beer.

I had to show ID a few times to buy beer when I was 28. The legal drinking age is 18... a little awkward. :)

I still have to show my ID sometimes, it is very awkward and they always are so surprised like “you can’t be 32!”. =D

The grocery store here has a sign that says anyone who appears to be
less than 50 will be carded. Not a joke sign.

Do you give off that vibe? My enthusiasms frequently have people think I am younger. At my first driving lessons at Gingerman towards the end of the day my instructor was letting me drive solo and then was watching to critique my runs. Once he came over and asked my age. The instructors liked that somebody my age was out to learn performance driving.
