No but I have an even weirder problem. When I click play on a video, it jumps to pause after half a second. I can't play videos, they automatically pause themselves. It suddenly started happening and it can't be fixed it looks like.

@Luca I use Firefox for youtube. It is set to delete everything each time it is closed because quite often utube will start going off on playlist 'tangents'. I never sign in.... try deleting your previously watched videos and see if this helps.

@Forest Cat your issue sounds like your adblocker is blocking the consent popup. If this gets blocked the script will still pause the video and no matter what you do you can't get around it. There is an app for Firefox that helps. I'll PM it if you are on Firefox.

maycontainthunder: I don't have an adblocker and I don't have Firefox. But I'm working on it, I'm sure it will work eventually. It's not a huge problem, just a little annoying.

It could be something in your browser that is doing it. Most modern browsers have some built in anti-tracking but I can't see any of them daring to block Google. If you can get to the settings maybe there's something there that may help. Be careful of disabling anything, read up on that setting first.

I use YouTube via duckduckgo.com
I type in !YouTube 'my search' on duckduckgo.com eg.
!YouTube football highlights
It goes straight to my search
I never go to youtube.com so I don't get triggered by anything I don't want to see

I suspect it's not likely an issue involving adblocking or tracking. Sounds like you may have downloaded/installed a "PUP" (Possibly unwanted program). Have you done any anti-virus/malware scans lately?

I have no such issues whether running YouTube on my TV, or through browsers in either Windows or Linux. And I watch a lot of YouTube videos daily. I don't use their "restricted" mode as well.

Luca - I would first delete all of the 'cookies' on your computer. This can be done by going to 'History', and then deleting it. This will remove all of the garbage placed on your computer. Then I would recommend you download 'AdGuard for safari'. It blocks everything. Zero ads on youtube, this forum etc. You will have to sign in again to websites that require a login. Hope this helps.

I often get pro-far-right ads when I go to Facebook, which confuses me because I am the exact opposite of pro-far-right. That is annoying.

@Luca. Re-reading your post, do you mean that the choice of selecting such videos is visible, or do you mean they launch automatically without your permission? After all, there's a huge difference in the choice offered you through YouTube's algorithms versus what could be maliciously launched automatically. People often question how such algorithms work.
