People aren't using hounds for hunting anymore? That's a pity, dogs love to have a job and they know the forest the best. I remember the story of Togo, he knew the weather more than anyone else just by looking at the sky. It's a pity his bloodline was lost.

People do use them for hunting where I live but they’re declining in numbers in other countries

Yes,brilliant movie and being based on reality makes it even greater.Long-legged Alaskan dogs,very smart and eager to work.He wouldn't take no for an answer,break the glass to do it,take his job seriously xD Teared up when Seppala was encouraging the dogs,its known dogs are responsive and get a mood shift ~ how we talk to them.Love how Seppala was always training them on the shortcut route up hills

@Luca, I have not kept up with the dog behavioral studies started at Berkeley. There were looking at working dogs, border collies and Newfoundlands through several generations of crossbreeding to see how their different behaviors would segregate. Do you know of this?

The smartest super agile breed + the perfect couch potato, what a combo! Might become a mountain of power like the Tibetan Mastiff, but not as defensive.
