I went through horrific abuse at a residential facility. I was legitimately tortured. All of the stories on the linked site are horrific and shocking but some are still not as bad as what happened to me.
I think it's time that I open up on here about what happened. It was over 15 years ago but I'm still dealing with treatment-resistant PTSD.

Raising awareness is the first most important that should be done about institutional child abuse. The people who get off on torturing, sexually assaulting, gaslighting, and manipulating children need punishment that fits the crime. Hopefully someday someone in a position of power can actually DO something about this.

The two worst things that happened to me in residential programs:
Being almost drowned in a toilet, by a staff member.
Being found out that I had been self-injuring, and being told that I had to "prove" it, which consisted of staff members have me "demonstrate" mutilating my arms and legs with a broken pen.
