I did not see a single scene from the actual movie and I'm traumatized. It reads similar to another psychological horror movie that I was really not okay after watching and was bullied into watching. As someone who has lived through literal psychological torture I'm very triggered.

I had been Googling something completely unrelated and very innocent in comparison. Now I'm absolutely not going to sleep. My door is triple-locked and barricaded and I have a hunting lantern next to my bed and the tv and background noise are on. This is what PTSD from torture is like. Sounds stupid but actually very, very horrifying.

Btw it's one of the super-bright LED hunting lanterns. I wasn't originally going to bring it but I'm so glad I did. I thought I'd bring it in case of a power outage but being in absolute terror is another good reason.

I'm also an idiot and didn't pack ANY food for myself (just dog food) so not only am I terrified but I have nothing to eat. I'm going to have to go to the store in the morning. This trip is off to an awful start. What a nightmare.

Hello! Hang in there. Maybe you can get some pepper spray for camping trips to give you added security. Meanwhile google "brain bleach"! ;)

How's it going? I'm on a tea break. Where are your dogs?

Midsommar is actually real, it happens every summer in Sweden. It's a tradition. The good news is that it's very friendly and nice, nothing like the movie at all. :) I have celebrated midsommar several times. Don't worry, nothing to be afraid of in the cabin.

@Forest Cat I was Googling the actual tradition which is very innocent and not scary at all. I'm mad that that horrible movie came up and that there wasn't a trigger warning attached. I love your people's culture and I don't think it's scary :)

@Callistemon My dogs are on my bed. I wish I had thought of bringing pepper spray!!! I have no weapons on me which is probably stupid.
I know what brain bleach is lol and I need a lot of it. I'm currently watching some really dumb early morning tv shows to make me less freaked out. The sun will be up soon, thank God.

I'm still a bit panicked but there is some light coming in through the window now which is helping. Being plunged into pitch black darkness in the middle of the woods made everything so much worse.

Would your dogs protect you if there was a problem? I'm guessing yes? I mean, you're surrounded by modified wolves who love you...

The thing is, brain bleach reverses some of that biochemistry that goes with feeling awful. Of course you knew what it is! It's just that if you google that you will get therapeutic baby hedgehogs etc. ;)
