Training does NOT equal exploitation. It’s as much fun for the dogs as it is for me. Dogs NEED mental stimulation or they develop issues like aggression, reactivity, destructive boredom, and separation anxiety. Anyone who has put in any effort with their dogs’ good behavior knows that.
Do better, people!!!

why on earth would anyone think dog training is exploitative? Dogs need stimulation as do people !

I humanely pee pad trained my dog so that nobody would hurt her for peeing somewhere else. It required about 4 months, she was a determined little dog. Lol

People talk crap about dogs going on pee pads, but it's better than a dog peeing on the floor in a hotel or something lol! I use pee pads for mine until they're about 12-14 weeks old and get the concept of "holding it." People forget that puppies are basically infants and they pee and poop uncontrollably.

Most puppies are not able to be fully potty trained until they're over 12 weeks old, don't listen to anyone who says they can't still be having "accidents" at 9 weeks old lol. Human babies don't get the concept either, they still wear diapers until they're two!

Was a little bottle of spray water okay when she didn't pee on the pad, l only did it when she was doing it in the wrong place. But it meant l had to stand over her.

She was a mature dog it was more retraining. She was a very intelligent dog. You show her something one time, she did it twice. Very smart.

Depends on how the dogs react to it! Some don't care, but some are terrified of the squirt bottle. It would not work for my water-phobic Pointer lol.
There is a woman in my service dog training class who uses a squirt bottle for her German Shepherd when she barks and it seems to work.
I would rather that someone uses a squirt bottle than something more aversive. Water is harmless, mostly.

Thank you so much. I was hoping it was humane. She was a small little dog. I had to think carefully of what to do.
