I can PM someone a pic of it if you're a medical person but it's pretty awful

Well, I just changed the bandages and it has stopped bleeding for now. So I don’t know.

I might be overreacting lol because I hate blood. And in 2020 I actually had a thumb injury (other hand) that required surgery. So I think I would have anxiety about this regardless…

Alright. I don't know anything about this. Sorry.

No worries! I don't know anything either. But I'm waiting to see if there's no more bleeding tonight, if there isn't I will go to sleep and go to the ER in the morning. I had a very bad injury to my right thumb in summer of 2020 and had to have emergency surgery. I don't want that to happen again! But I probably shouldn't wait too long to go in if it does need stitches.

Why is it always my thumbs??? :(

3 hours of no bleeding. I think I will try to sleep and then go to urgent care in the morning. I called my mom and she doesn’t think it needs to be stitched. But I would rather have a doctor look at it so I will go when I wake up.

How did you do it?

I always used to hit my thumbs with the hammer in woodwork at school. Thankfully, by the time we built the house I was able to avoid this.

If it's less than a centimetre and you can't see muscle underneath you probably won't need stitches.

Hand injuries bleed prolifically because of all the blood vessels concentrated there, especially in the tips of the fingers/thumbs. The good news is that bleeding wounds tend not to infect and that when things clot, they heal quickly.
