Laptops tend to be limited life machines especially the cheaper ones. Trouble is they like to die in expensive ways that can't be fixed.

Teriyaki sauce into the cooling fan? I'm looking at my laptop. Hmm. It's got a vent on the underside. Where's your cooling fan? ...I wrecked a keyboard once by spilling liquid on it accidentally. Thankfully it was detachable (desktop), so could be replaced.
