I never realized I was doing anything “weird.” Being bullied wasn’t justified obviously, but I’ve continued to do the same embarrassing stuff since I was like 4 years old and I’m still dealing with the consequences. I still don’t entirely get the concept of “masking” and I still tend to embarrass myself.

It didn’t really “click” as to why everyone was being mean to me until I was about 24 years old. That was when I think I first realized I had to be “less” like myself in order for people to like me.
