The laptop is going to eventually get upgraded internally--I am not sure how old it is, but it's ancient (as in, CD-Rom drive old.) LIbreOffice will be a nice alternative to Microsoft Word for papers & such.
I'm planning to eventually upgrade more parts & hardware as I go along.
