That's because they are vague unclear generalizations. They'd be saying something if it was like "Wash your feet every day," or "Think one grateful thought every day," or "Fold your clean clothes and put them away once they're out of the dryer." Or "Practice your penmanship 20 minutes three times a week." etc.
