They gave me money for my birthday which I do appreciate... I took it into town and bought my own freakin' cake and ate with a friend of mine while we reminisced about the old days.. And beer; I bought beer. Not a drinker by any means but if my family wants to forget me on my birthday AGAIN, I get beer instead.

It's theoretically possible that they think you will be happier with a 'non-social' observation of your birthday. Do you feel they'd like to "forget" you in an absolutely literal sense, like they wish you'd disappear?

You know, that was one of the conclusions I came to while in the car. I would explain more but this site limits the characters on your posts.
