Age I started speaking was between three and four and then was very limited. Other than this I would think I had Asperger's rather than high functioning autism.

I had a really rough childhood and was punished repeatedly for my behavior or for failure to meet parental expectations. Tortured may be a more accurate term. I have had counseling several times and diagnosed with PTSD and that my speech difficulties as a child were "selective mutism".

I was diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome years ago, And finally was officially diagnosed with ASD-high functioning a couple years ago. I didn't know before I had children, so now have many like myself among my kids and grandkids.
