Researcher

I am a mother of an adult son with ASD and a researcher (doctoral student in forensic psychology) conducting research to understand what leads people with ASD to commit crimes. Generally there is much suggestion in the literature that it is due to features inherent in ASD but I don't believe it is that simple! My aim is to improve understanding and, ultimately provision, for those in the Criminal Justice and Mental Health systems. I have built a website to conduct a qualitative study to explore how people with ASD, who have committed a crime, understand and account for their offences. The study is sponsored by the University of Birmingham where I'm doing my doctorate and has ethical approval.

Gardening, cookery, good wine and travel.
