    Thanks for those replies. Since mine is a self-diagnosis I was just wondering how others came to their conclusions that they had Asp and if mine was a typical way. At my age there wouldn't be any reason for a formal diagnosis other than to satisfy curiosity. I would imagine a formal diagnosis...

    Lawrence Summers asked that question when he was president of Harvard. Since Harvard had been bending over backwards for over 40 years to make it happen without success, he wondered aloud if it might be genetic. He was fired as a result of that comment.

    Actually the "No Irish need apply" thing is an old wive's tale. Read the article about it in Wikipedia. No contemporaneous photos or journals support it nor have any classified ads been found in old newspapers. You might want to recheck your assumptions. Joe
