  • Hi. Saw you are a sub teacher's assistant. How is that going for you? I have done that job a lot in the past. I did leave it in February because a student made me melt down, and my employer and I had an unproductive conversation about it that made me decide to quit. But I had lots of rewarding assignments in the times I've done it. I go back and forth between that and being a direct support worker.

    The job is going GREAT! My favorite assignments are Autism units. The students often remind me of myself at their age. The kids struggles such as tying their shoes or blowing their noses bring back memories of my struggling with those tasks too. Some days I do come home from school in meltdown country. If I can be by myself, I can begin to calm down.
