bearded dragons

bearded dragons

Hahaha. He already had a blanket made of paper. A youngster made it for him, and even made an elaborate stage for him. Every single youngster that's seen him isn't afraid and is fascinated by him, I feel good letting them have that experience.

@8398 and thats a good experience for them to have. A paper blanket does that keep him warm enough ? that was nice of the youngster to make the blanket and stage for him. i really do enjoy our time together :)

haha nah it just lays on the floor of his cage, waiting to be pooped on. His heat lamp is what really keeps him warm.

@8398 are there any other reptiles in the same cage or aqurium with him ? and your kindness and good pet ownership keeps him and his heart warm :) do you use a red heat lamp at night for additional warmth at night or just your room heater ?

for my snakes i would use to do both use my room heater and also a red heat lamp and other nights i would use only the red heat lamp and then some nights i would only use my room heater. I also kept a damp towel on top of the aqurium for added humidity then i would also use a reptile water bottle and mist down the snakes and aqurium.

My heat lamp is slightly different, it's a ceramic heater that doesn't give off any light, so I can have it on all night. I have a separate UVB light. And nope, he has no tank mates. With male bearded dragons, I think they are supposed to be alone or they'll hurt each other. That's interesting to know what snakes need. Lizard doesn't need and humidity.

@8398 your heat lamp is a heat source only. i like petco and heres a good heaters and heat lamp page you might like http://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcos...y:&pageView:&minPrice:&maxPrice:&pageSize:24& Bearded dragons can have intense territorial streaks, particularly the males. Neverkeep a pair of two male bearded dragons in the same enclosure. A pair of two females might work, however. A male and a female together might work, too, but it's important to be aware of the likely possibility of reproduction. if you need any bearded dragon or reptile info let me know. Since bearded dragons are from dry desert regions, they need to have a low humidity environment. Plastic and glass lids will cause the humidity within your bearded dragon's tank to increase to unhealthy levels.

Sounds like I'm doing an okay job then! Geez that was quick information
He is in a glass tank but his lid is mesh wire I think is what it's called. I think I'll only have him, I'd need a tank size upgrade for two. A controversial debate regarding beardie care, is what substrate to use. According to the internet, lose substrate such as sand has a risk of being eaten and impacting the beardie's system. But the downside of not using it is that they have a natural burrowing instinct, and sand heats up nicely and makes it easy to scoop poop. I decided to stay safe and use a plastic reptile carpet.

You are doing a good job :) i know how to get good information quickly. your right its called a mesh wire lid does it look like this one ? Grreat Choice® Fresh Air Reptile Screen Cover | reptile Accessories | PetSmart i think you should only keep him because males don't do good in the same tank and i wouldn't get a female because its possible they would mate but then you could sell the beardie babys and get money for them. If you are looking to mimic your bearded dragon's natural habitat, straight sand isn't the most accurate option! One loose substrate that actually seems to work pretty well for bearded dragons is a 50/50 mixture of top soil and play sand. The best substrates for bearded dragons are newspapers, paper towels, ceramic tiles, or indoor/outdoor carpeting or special reptile carpeting. i used this for my snakes and also news paper http://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/zilla-green-reptile-terrarium-liner
