Work experience at school

What did you do at work experience week at school? Now mine was in the early-mid 90s so it might have changed a lot. Anyway I worked as an assistant at a vets, I thought I did quite well. I did every task they gave me without complaining. I did faint twice in the op room though and I stood in the corner with my hands over my ears whenever a dog came in but I got on with it. They seemed annoyed with me for not going out for my lunch though (I had sandwiches with me and didn't see the need to go out for lunch, there wasn't anywhere fancy to go anyway) and they sacked me a day early for no reason I can think of other than that I didn't really talk much. (I was kinda relieved and pleased to have the day off though).

So what are your work experience memories?

I did work experience in... 2007, i think? I worked at a fairly big guitar shop for a week. All I did was play my choice of expensive guitars and amps for a week. :D B) :showoff:

I did it at Curry's for two weeks and sort of hated it.
The people there were okay and some new I had another disability specifically about me not being able to pick up verbal instructions very well(which really just resulted in a lot of patronising[but then again, in all fairness, I suppose speaking slowly to someone who has a hard time picking up on verbal instructions is considerate]), so it wasn't that bad.
The tasks were horrible, like labelling every product in the store(there was at least 3,000 products).
The customers I didn't like neither.
I enjoyed working in the warehouse the most because the people who worked in there didn't talk to me and there was no customers to worry about.
I still spent most of the day walking around the refrigerator aisle(no one went there and my manager didn't know I was there so he couldn't give me another job[so a job like changing the labels on an aisle of products which would normally take 30-45 minutes would for some reason take me 2-3 hours xD]).
I liked being able to have lunch where I wanted though.

My work experience was in 2006 (I think) and I worked in a cafeteria in my hometown`s Oulu`s main library. I did very well. No one complained about it. I cleaned tables, washed dishes, made sandwiches... Thats sort of thing.

One time I was working during summer in Kemira`s chemical-reacher`s center washing windos. I did well (with a partner) and got plenty of money from as well, I the whole June and July.

Anyways, no problems in both.

my work experience at school was (i think) in 05. I worked at a flower shop which was kind of nice.... a bit boring as most of the tinme i had to removed the thorns of roses but overall I liked it. Didn´t hav to socialise very much, the people were very friendly and I had to work only for 4/5 hours a day. And there were so much pretty flowers in pretty colours around me :)

After school I had an internship at a tailor (I liked the work, but felt socialy very awkward as it was only me and the tailoress). And at a fashion archive which was perfect for me... very nice and understanding people and I could do my work in a room on my own. and at my dads (own office, knew all the people and beeing able to do photoshop the hole day :D )

For money I worked as a waitres (at event catering) :horrible chefs, had to be spontaneous all the time, they called all the time, so I was a psychic wrek after one week and quitted after a month, although the guests were very nice, and the work itself I enjoyed quite a lot.

Well, i did my work experience in 2004 at a computer clean room/ warehouse combination.... I did every task they asked me and even better than that, after 4 months from the 6 months of internship they gave me 20 man i head to lead it worked out fine for two weeks...after this i got sacked, just because i was asking too much while i had tripled the work speed... originally we were shipping 120 computers a week, i pushed it to 374 a week...

....and yet there was another classical problem i was asking a position that was too high to ask from my boss....i saw so much possibilities for the company's that just sacked me....

Amen to being in the warehouse. I'm jealous of the warehouse staff workers at Morrisons, though. They just mess around until a lorry comes, then it's all 'bezzin' around on a forklift and pallet wheels.

:(

I didn't really get to do that, it was more moving boxes around.
It also made me justify having McDonalds every day(not every day but most) 'cause I was doing exercise by moving those heavy boxes around. ROFL.
But yeah, there was rarely more than 1 person in there and st00f :D.

Yeah, it really does depend on witch warehouse you'd choose... for instance the computer warehouse i work in they will find work for you the next minute you are finished with a other job in the warehouse..... But true there are warehouses you can play

I did a weeks work in a classical music warehouse back in 2005, which was like what I'd want to do if I lose interest in anything else. They kept me busy, and I walked away with a good reference at the end of it.

I did some technical work at my college's performing arts venue every so often last year, now that they've offered me paid work, I'm not able to fit it in with my schedule.
