What brings you peace?

So i thought this might help some of us discover new ways of finding peace. For me beautiful clear skies. Soft puffy clouds and warm sun rays really help. What about you?

Aha! moments.
(not the 80s band :) )

discovering answers to long- time questions. personal growth mainly.

watching my cats fall asleep.

seeing others happy.

a quiet walk first thing in a morning - just me and the dog.
(during crisp, autumn mornings, even better)

there are more, just can't think of them at the moment.

Sitting in front of a fire of any kind (campfire, bonfire, woodstove, pellet stove, fireplace).

A snowstorm on a weekend when I don't have to leave the house.

Hanging out in my cool dry basement when it's 90F+ and humid out, with nothing but the hum of the dehumidifier.

Working in my garage.

Going up north to my happy place.

At the risk of appearing elementary, how does each one define what peace is?

Is peace a state of being that only each one of us can try to create?

Is peace a welcome gift that is given and can only be appreciated during a backwards-glance? .....that quickening in the heart that delivers a wee bit of contentment we thought we would never feel much less appreciate ..... and what of contentment? Does any correlation exist between contentment and peace?

Is peace manufactured or is it always there ... at arms length waiting for us to open our eyes to deeply see and feel?

Yep, your probably correct, peace is discovered as it peeks out from around clear skies, fluffy clouds, and warm sun rays.

I am enjoying seeing all the ways each one discovers peace. From routine, to porn, to machine gun chatter, to Aha moments. What a great thread. Freedom from disturbance .... peace to all.

Peace to me is a state of feeling no upsetting negative emotions. Feeling no anxiety or stress.
And I find it mostly through meditation, sleep without dreams and being out in nature with no one
around.

Contentment means a more overall state of being. Not just some fleeting moments.
It would mean feeling life is in order and as I want it to be.
That is almost impossible to find on an ongoing basis to me.
A clear mind and settled emotions with no hurry or pressures from outside sources
and a life with no financial worries or daily chaos.

Meditating, going out in nature or completely indulging in one of my interests; those are probably the only times when I can get my mind to calm down and stop over-thinking things for once, therefore this is what I consider to be the most peaceful for me.

Getting things done, finished, out the way.
Not having pressures or obligations.
Routine.
Financial security.

I was going to say, 'a walk and picnic in the countryside', but what good will the walk do if my mind is on my problems or obligations?

I’ve an acquaintance who is a competitor in a professional cowboy rodeo series in the US.

My friend’s event is bull riding. He has told me that he experiences peace while competing.

He calls it “ 8 seconds of pure bliss” and says it’s a peace that can’t be “understood or explained”.

I would guess that like me this activity is the farthest from peaceful for most but isn’t that just like humanity to have a significant variation in understanding and experience?

I find it fascinating and am awestruck.

We celebrate it here on Autismforums.com. We are such a small segment of humanity but even in our group the complexity and variation of condition, experience, and thought varies greatly.

It’s truly fascinating. May your nature walks be long and your bull rides last 8 seconds; and most of all may peace abound in your lives.

What brings me peace? That's easy. Family, family and of course, family!

Some people actually center and ground me. Sleeping with my fav friend's arms near me bring me content. First at the coffee shop, seeing the sun wake-up as l sit outside. For some reason, clean clothes is joyful. Peace is watching the nite slip by as l laugh at a comedy movie. Saying hello to a cutie guy on my list when he is home.
