Waterfall hunt in London

I loved doing a waterfall project in London when my situation with my health was a bit better. It was a lockdown challenge I had over lockdown and it continued after that. I miss it. I like going to parks and seeing a waterfall just makes it more special and I find them very peaceful. I like filiming them also and around the park and uploading them to Youtube. I have another park planned Dunorlan Park which I have found has a waterfall to..brilliant and it is working been confirmed.

Can you also suggest me any around London and surrounding areas. All the main ones Kyoto Park, Holland Park, Queen's Mary's, Kew Gardens and Great Windsor Park i've seen. Also seen Hammersmith City and WWF at Barnes and Peckham Rhye. Loved Wimbledon Park.
This is my Youtube page with many videos on waterfalls basically.
lilmsrach

This is what I have to go confirm things lol. Dediciated lol.

Hello Rachel

Thank you for your interest in Dunorlan Park and the waterfall. Because you would be travelling some way, I should say that this is a very attractive waterfall but it is not perhaps as big as it looks in the pictures. It is the overflow from the large lake and it is certainly active at present. It is perhaps about 8 metres high. Having said that, Dunorlan Park is very attractive at this time of the year and there are some lovely autumn colours.

If you are coming to T.Wells by train, the no. 6 bus runs from the station to the park but there is only one per hour at 30 mins past. The 277 at (I think) 15 and 45 mins past stops near the park. It comes up Sandhurst Road and then you get off as it turns left at the top. It is then 5 mins walk to the park. Alternatively, it is about 30 mins walk from the station up through Calverley Park or a £5+ taxi ride.

Wow, you captured some really interesting waterfalls in your videos, @Rachie. Thank you for sharing. I love watching waterfalls and also I find the sound of rushing water very soothing.

Thank you everyone. @Rodafina my course at university my minor was in media communications. It involved both theory and practice. We did our own filming. I ended up purchasing my first video camera after paying a shop with small deposits.
Fast forward, that became too old tech and it was stolen abroad. Ended up with a new one for Christmas which screen got damaged, sand got into the screen tried to clean it damaged it and bought another one. I tend to go for high end specs for just discontinued models.
I do still enjoy filmmaking and enjoy using the Sony Vegas software to create them. I film with a Panasonic video camera.
Lol it seems that I will be given VIP treatment and been offered to meet the Chairman for the Friends Society for drink in the cafe when I visit the park.

I should have stopped at Beddington park but I kept on discovering more. It is sad thing as an old friend from school lives by one which was converted into something else years ago. It can be a bit like catch them while you can. I suspect though that the main ones may be there for a while. Some were too big for me.

My personal favourite was Wimbledon Park and then Hammersmith City Park. One of my previous consultants was big supporter of me going out and would send lets say support to me if they thought I was not going at all. I also saw Kyoto Gardens waterfall a photo on someone else's page who has similar co conditions.

You know I was wondering myself doubting it but I went to London Zoo this year and I saw water running and was so moved by it all. I approached further and saw it was just a hose but laughed and said it's true I love waterfalls.

I prefer small waterfalls and like to get close to them. I cannot even remember what some trying to have conversation. Sometimes there was months apart. The last proper one was Blehhemin Palace and I found it hard to get around. I even wanted to go to Buckingham Palace to see the waterfall as was told was a private one. I got there and there was none. The rug was pulled beneath me for several days I became unwell and I hussed here I think in well surprise.

I have been sent photos and already knew what I expect to see was more was nice to me but I had not seen their photos. There will be a distance and I don't get close. It is nice to see and hopefully the weather will hold out and I will be welll enough. I have to consider when now. I been told where to go when I get there.

I don't allow comments as I am not social and to stop trolls. I get concerned I would be there too much. I have delicate videos private for family or unlisted. I got one single comment and I read it and they said it was so nice to see as it helped their depression and I hid it and I do it for me and shared hoping someone else may be consider it. I always to hide my post counts etc.

I was sent these two photos of where I will visit. I was very happy to see them in the wait. May be someone may like the photos as well. I almost thought it was snowing today and gasped then it fully dawned on me.

I do enjoy being on the water and like Uber rides which can be had for quite cheap in the UK. I am sure many like to do this. I also like being by the sea and have since a child and removed those as I thought they may be too cringey. I am lucky to come across before Christmas and it might be my treat for Christmas. I am not fussed. I will see.
I do developed posters for me and the last major hospital Iwas at. I gave them a copy of Kyoto where it started and one even visited and showed me on her camera. I even Wassserfall in Berlin. It is nice accompaient but I am not fit to travel. Can you beleve Zurich with medical assistance is doable in a day with a museum the WOW museum. I hoped to see the Ann Frank museum if I ever visited Berlin. Also, the photo was the last one year I shot which a proper day out with a lot of physical and mental efforts.

This is a way cool hobby, cool videos. I like culverts and tunnels.
Have you ever been to Amsterdam as I think they have a lot of tunnels there I observed when looking to see if they had any waterfalls but found none. II think it was tunnels?

I have mentioned in other posts how I used to be on a Community Treatment order for anorexia. I was on it four years. In 2018 I recieved section papers to my home and on it they wrote I was not leaving the house. It was a combination of things. She walked me through my consultant through my first summer school and I did a short course on massage. Never could take part though fully just hands and feet. It was like being massively trigered to go out and I actually went one summer and shot the Kyoto on my phone in 2019 and it is a short now. It was a few emails. Some I never ggot to see like Ramsgate. I know the name but i am up quite late so struggling to recall it. When I checked before considering going in the summer I was told it wasn't working.

The CTO was removed in October 2022 but was in the motions for over a year. It took a lot of professionals to conclude. Things with my health gradually detertoriated after all force was removed and the threat to admit to further units for specialist input. Only if iwanted it and I'm not sure how many would be likely to take that offer up. A very brave soul for sure if it was there..It morphed.

It seemed to give me kick and would go alone and come early with transport usually picked up.

May be one something for someone to disscover whenever they live.

I wanted to link to this yesterday but went to the wrong video. I went and it wasn't running well and returned. I didn't want to ruin my experience. I returned with it working and had a different experience but one that was still enjoyed by me. I prefer to collect than revisit.

I did a voluntary shift or two sitting down in one of the Wetlands Centre in London a few years back. It was nice to visit but I couldn't manage the voluntary role.

I also have been involved in a therapy peace garden referred to by my team but I felt I wanted to be around water more when I am in nature. It was just gardens and no water but therapeutic for many people. It was people with mental health issues and a number of neurodivergent people attended. We did things like apple coring as well. I don't go anymore so have no issue it is was Forest farm Peace Garden for example.

I've been to the Netherlands but I didn't get to explore any of those things. But there were a lot of canals. I think water is a thing for types who are on the spectrum. It's not unusual at all.

My time out yesterday at Dunorlan Park. I put a video together today and uploaded it to Youtube. The friends society certainly gave me some VIP treatment. I do it because it helps me and it is fun as well.

I have been trying to find some things of interest now that projects have been completed to me.

However, yesterday some light shone onto this for me. I went onto the BBC app on my smart television and looked for any nature programmes to watch and favourite around water and waterfalls. I found a few and liked them to watch later.

Then, I thought ok I like seeing waterfalls why not try and learn more about them the different waterfalls in the world while I was watching pretty much Victoria Falls in Zambi on my television.

Norway has so many waterfalls and it is not that far from me. Now again Norway is added and consideration as a place for me to visit.

I saw yesterday in England in Yorkshire there is such a large waterfall the Canonteign Falls in Devon –which is though artifical. I wonder how that came about. Some research for me to be had.

So may be I will get some books and a lot of a lounge time reading up about waterfalls and my interest continues a bit in different ways now perhaps.

Hi everyone

I can only perhaps watch one waterfall video on my television daily. They are so much to take in. I was just watching the Zambezi again from the BBC the Earth Great Rivers II series. I was marvelled by it all.

I saw a lot of steam mist coming from the waterfall and I noticed that when I went to Zurich to the Rhinefalls in 2022 in May which is the most powerfall waterfall in Europe. I went there for a day trip and also went to a museum. It was a great thing to do and was my first real waterfall that I have seen.

This is the link to my video. If you watch it you will see the steam appearance like when you approach the waterfall on the boat. I need to get a proper understading of that as well.

I will also link the BBC Earth series. Unfortunetly, not many waterfall videos are there through using my televsion. The Zambezi waterfall starts 14 mins around in. That is where is mine will literally be set permanently. There were so many colours. I encourage anyone who can view it to watch it. The Danube one I watched live and I cannot remember if this was before I started my waterfall project it screamed must see to me.

BBC Two - Earth's Great Rivers II - Available now

The Canonteign falls is– 220 ft (67 m); is an artificial waterfall in Devon and you can think why go to the distance to create something so huge and it be artificial. Artifical waterfalls are usually smaller. I have looked at it and it is in a leisure facility and it is obviously that size to attract people. Some waterfalls are very difficult for some of the community to get to. This is why they appealed to me as well in a park. I cannot trek for miles to find one. I am limited with my mobility etc. I need to find one that is easily obtainable.

Lol underneath my breathe and I think that means you have to laugh or you will or may cry.

Anyway, I posted a few days ago about buying my first book on waterfalls. This took me some time to get to as it was a deviation from just visiting a park and filiming. I had a bit of a lightbulb moment as well.

Then I bought one. Seemed so huge on Amazon. Who has ever measured a book on Amazon. I was expecting something quite substantial in size in paperback. What came was a tiny book that can fit in a pocket. I wear glasses too and it will now be more of a struggle to read the text. I am fairly happy with it though, but certainly I wasn't expecting that size. Has happened before, but never in books. I will be looking out for books as well

I really enjoyed this video @Rachie, so soothing, in the close ups of the different parts of the waterfall, each sound effect was distinct. I like the power of the longer unbroken drop near the top, these are effective as white noise to drown out the hussle/bustle/people noises.

Do you have a favourite sound effect?

My favourite water noise though, the most soothing, are the sections where the water falls a shorter distance onto rocks, and gushes between and around them on its continued decent.

The effect on my brain is instant mindfulness, thank you for sharing them.

Thank you Roisin, you have really helped me with my project and filming. You see I cannot take comments on Youtube. I don’t trust them, some may be argumentive and provocative or just too many for me to cope with. Some may you tie you to Youtube and can never leave almost by typing comments. I share here as it is my interest and also perhaps others may see and think about their interests and also if the water may be helpful to other people with a neurodiversity it likely may in some. I read one comment before and the person suffered from depression and said it was helpful to them. I by mistake didn't put it to no comments and I read it it was enough to know that one person just appreciated and I put it on private. So, I was in a dark with it all a bit for others. You have given me some direction and input on which I haven't got.

So you know a lot about waterfalls, a different side to what I know and am going to be exploring. I don’t usually use Wikipedia but see here about all the different types of waterfall and the cascade etc. List of waterfalls by type - Wikipedia

I loved Wimbledon just to sit by it gently, but they all effect me in different ways. At the end of the Rhine I loved to tame it at the end with little waterfall stream effect.
This is what I like, I am sure there is a name for the sound effect on it-

I cannot wait to see my next one.

I was just watching the Zambezi Victoria Falls waterfall again on BBC iplayer on my tv (the waterfall starts at 14 mins in).I heard it this time. They said that the mist I asked about coming out of the waterfalls are called plume of spray and I will take their word for that.
