This is about me and how I live

I am pleased to meet y'all I am an 18 year old teenage boy diagnosed with aspergers from a young age. Some of my special interests include working with computers and software which I have worked with for years.

Throughout the elementary school years I was in a regular school but in a small special class for people with special needs like me.

I am not sure what the non swedish term is for this but after I graduated elementary school I started gymnasiet which is where you go after elementary school in Sweden only this one was specially made for people with diagnoses like ADHD or aspbergers.

Currently I go there from monday to friday when I get to go home by train.

My first time there was very rough because not only were the students rude disgusting loud and obnoxious .

I also developed a depression which not only caused my grades to fall like crazy and I eventually considered suicide and I tried to hang myself in the bathroom atleast 4 times with a shirt that I had stuck onto were you hang handtowels.

Eventually I brought myself out of it by first talking to my mom about it and later to my dad.

This year I actually discussed this with my psychology teacher and she actually admitted the system had failed to help me out with my depression and suicidal attempts.

Eventually my grades returned to normal and for the first time ever this year I finally got complete grades including math.

There are also some not so pleasant memories I am sharing with ya'll
in several instances during elementary school I have beaten up kids for various reasons.
Such as making caricature drawings of teachers then refusing to erase them or even younger kids making fun of me by mimicking me.

Historically I have had many problems with making friends and keeping them
my social skills are also not the best but things have been improving gradually thanks to support from both teachers and my parents.

I also tend to isolate myself in my bedroom quite often when I am at home preferring to use the family laptop or browse the internet on my phone instead of spending quality time with my family.

I do have an impulsive buying problem where I spend all my funds on large amounts of fast food or google play gift cards because my current credit card won't allow online purchases.

I am not really sure where to go in life after I move out from home and I am not even sure what to get in terms of a job.
What do you think about I have written so far?

Congratulations on pulling your grades back up, and welcome to the forums. It sounds like you are on track. Don't get ahead of yourself with the job and moving out stuff, don't you have a little time still before you have to leave your schooling?

Welcome to the Forums! I hope you make new friends and enjoy your stay in the process! :)

Hello & welcome.

...in Sweden...
They have "y'all" in Sweden, now...!?

In the USA, it is junior high school or middle school, then high school.
I eventually considered suicide...
I'm glad that you are still with us!

Isn't Specialisterne in your area?

A fellow Swede, hello there. :)

I'm sorry to hear that you've had a rough time of it, but at least you managed to pull out of it in the end. I was absolutely miserable in elementary school, but my time in gymnasiet was actually one of the better ones in my life. College was hard, too, but I didn't know what was wrong with me and what my special needs were, while you seem to be on top of that, so hopefully you'll have an easier time there than I did.

They have "y'all" in Sweden, now...!?

Considering how sauturated we are in American culture, that's the least of what we have in Sweden. :p It's to the point where Swedes (including, I admit, myself) will frequently switch to English in a middle of a sentence, because they just don't know how to articulate a particular thought in Swedish.

According to the Bing Translator, "gymnasiet" = "high school."

Eh, roughly, yes. From how Americans describe it, it sounds pretty different. It's much more divided into programs corresponding to rough career path. I really liked it, because I was in the science program and surrounded by people who had chosen to be there because they really liked studying, and that made for a much better environment than elementary school, where everything seemed to revolve around soccer.

Welcome Turbocks!

My school days are well behind me, I'm retired.
But, I can certainly relate to the wanting to isolate in your bedroom.
I never outgrew that and continue to do so now that I am living with a house share partner.

I always enjoyed being out in nature too.

I am so old but l totally related to your post. You tried to end life four times. l think you are fantastic that you came here dropped a bomb on us and you are standing strong. You didnt pass on, you have wisdom now to share, you wanted to leave but you cant leave, have you thought about helping others who feel they want to leave? Are you here to help others? You can find strength in saving those around you, you have a purpose in life, l feel extremely honored to meet you, and l personally am so thankful that you came here asking for wisdom, when you are a guide yourself, you are a survivor, you made it through. Please stop and reflect, you are here for a reason, you have a path to blaze, l am speechless at what obstacles you have overcome. Dont leave us now, we come in groups to support you.....

Welcome, Turbocks! It sounds like you've survived a tough few years. Please make the most of your time with access to teachers and the support of your parents to develop your finance management skills and keep working on your social skills. This will give you more options and an easier life once you are ready to leave home. One thing I thought of as I was reading your post was that life after school is quite different to life during school. I hope you find (as I did) that life is somewhat better when you have more choice in who you associate with and who you don't.

Congratulations on improving your grades and working on your social skills. Keep at it, the effort you put in now will make the rest of your life that much better.

Sounds like you might benefit from getting rid of the credit cards, or moving most of your money to a savings account with a withdrawal limit.

Welcome.
