Dead at 87 from complications of bypass surgery. Known for a variety of roles, I can never forget his portrayal of the title character "King Rat". A lowly corporal in a Japanese POW camp who was running the place. Worth seeing.

 
An interesting film. Also thought him good in The Brideg at Remagen. Sorry to hear he passed.

I have both DVDs..."King Rat" and "Bridge At Remagen".

Both fine films...and excellent soundtracks as well. :cool:
