sensationalism sells newspapers, so they exploit any opportunity. 'news' is not truth.

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.
Depends on if it can be proved.
Example headline: Missing Child Found Dead In Ditch Two Blocks From Home.
Read the article. Maybe you know the child or the family. Friends and family of said child
    definitely know it is true.

Example #2 headline: Gigantic Asteroid On Collision Course With Earth Friday.
Read the article and it states an astroid the size of a bus may skim the edge of Earth's atmosphere
    Friday, 2pm EST.

Sensationalism. Nothing can accurately be predicted and an asteroid that size would break up
    before hitting the planet.
Of course if you're unlucky and stone sized piece of it hits you on the head...not good.
If you're lucky, you might find a piece of it and have a nice meteorite.

My favourite song for the newsroom:

Doesn't look as if you have stopped dwelling on the topic.
You have hunted up another article to torment yourself with.

Wouldn't finding material about how to counter act deforestation
be more useful to you personally?
