My right foot is in a ton of pain.

It is not gout this time. This time, it is plantar fasciitis. And I am expected to walk a mile in the bus stop every morning to get to work, then walk another mile to get back home in the afternoon. In the freezing cold weather, which is making it hurt more than it should.

This is me in self-pity mode, as I am the only person in my office who is expected to be there in person five days a week, yet I have the toughest commute out of everyone there since I am the only one who has to take a bus both ways.

Get your self an insert pain should go away. I flipped my foot side ways on a track in the plant one day saw doctor who sent me to foot specialist who recommended insert pain gone took years to heal

Are you able to get a tennis ball or a pet toy ball, that can help a bit. Sorry to read you aren't doing well.

I actually use a frozen water bottle for this when dealing with it at home, but my office does not have a freezer, only a mini fridge. I wish my office had a freezer so I could keep a frozen water bottle here for this purpose. As well as keeping food here for myself in case I forget my packed lunches at home.

I had that plantar crap most of last year. It's so annoying. Too much walking and too much time on a ladder I think. Have you tried one of those painkiller creams that you smear on the foot, that also helps with inflammation? I asked a woman in a pharmacy, she had recently had plantar fasciitis. And she gave me a tube of Voltarol Forte. It probably has a different name where you are, but that helped my feet. I just put it on and let it be absorbed by the skin. Late in the evening so it worked its magic during the night.

Also, a foot massager helps. She recommended that too. One of those small boxes you put your feet into that kneads your feet. Amazon has lots of them.

I have been there before bud and it sucks for sure. I highly recommend the Dr. Scholls insole inserts that are specifically for plantar fasciitis. That and compression socks. I was to the point where both my feet ached all the time but with the combination of socks and insoles it's completely gone away and I'm back to hiking.

One more thing I forgot in the other post, that woman at the pharmacy also recommened something called a 'night splint'. I haven't tried it, but she said it helped to stretch the foot. So you wear it at night when you sleep. Looks like this:

This is a tough thing to go through. I don’t drive, and rely on family members for transportation. I was meeting with my job counselor and she asked me if I had a bus stop near me. Like you, my closest stop is more than a mile away. I said I just couldn’t manage to walk to and from a bus stop for almost 45 minutes every day.

Is there any way you could use a service like Uber or Lyft until the pain subsides? I know that it can be expensive, but maybe it could be a solution for a little while.

That's the pits, @Metalhead. I tore my Achilles tendon a couple years ago and had to wear an orthopedic boot that came up to my knee for about two months. The orthopedist recommended I get a wedge to stand on, with my heels at the bottom of the wedge and all my weight on my heels. It stretches the tendon and plantar muscles. I got my husband to make one with plywood with the dimensions and slope recommended by the doctor and I stand on it multiple times a day. It actually feels really good to stretch my tendons.

Hoping you have a speedy recovery.

I ordered some insoles that should arrive at my house this afternoon. I will work from home today. I am icing my foot currently.

Things could easily be a lot worse.

Decent footwear instead of wearing sandals all of the time fixed this problem. Go figure.

I love my HOKA shoes. Orthopedist recommended them after I hurt my Achilles tendon. The store will do a 3-dimensional measurement of your feet and have you walk on a pad that identifies how you place your feet when you walk to determine if you are a toe walker, if your heel strikes are good, if you're rolling off the sides of your feet instead of the balls of your feet, etc. and recommend styles and inserts to correct your foot problems.
