Topic.

I think did good answers to the questions but we'll see.

Thoughts?

I know there might be issues surrounding me working in a Jeweller's,, including the risk of stuff getting broken, but I'm prepared to take that risk, and I'd be super careful with the goods.

Thanks.

If I get the job I'll have to negotiate with the benefits office to see if it would be allowed under "Permitted work", but as it's only 12 hours a week I don't think there'd be a problem.

There's just the usual problem with temporary work, it'd probably take them the duration of the job to do the paper work for me to be allowed it.

Now is the time to "get your feet wet" before an interview. Lots of sources online like these to learn about intelligently discussing things like diamonds and gold. At least if they ask you some basic questions you can give them some positive responses. Good luck.

Hope it gets you somewhere. I am back in the unemployment line myself. I lost my truck driving job because I had a service failure. I was late on a delivery and "failed to communicate" my difficulties. Of course I told my dispatcher but they were looking for a reason to kick me to the curb. I think I am going to try something in the aviation industry. I heard about a ramp agent position which involves servicing aircraft and pushing them back from the gate and out onto the tarmac. That seems kind of interesting. Of course it pays peanuts but oh well.

Hang on, your Boss "kicked you to the curb" because you told them you're Aspie? If they did that to me I would seeking legal advice, in order to sue the pants off them for discrimination.

And any Judge worth his wig would take the case.

On the ad, it said S9, Wincobank, yet the Store is in the Meadowhall Centre which is in the Darnall area, not Wincobank, which is s2.

That's really helpful, thanks loads :)

It's the sort of thing that I had once has to deal with in accepting appraisals for insuring scheduled jewellery. You don't have to know all the deep details, but just enough to figure the most basic stuff. Especially in the case of that job interview. The rest you can wing as you go along if you get the job. ;)

Looks like a great opportunity given how explicit they are about 12 hours a week.

Yeah that's a good aspect of the job, so even if the pay's around a tenner an hour (and it probably won't be) it's still within the upper limit of what I can earn without negative effect on my ESA.

The main problem, which if need be I'll sort, is that it says the job's "temporary" but doesn't state HOW temporary, and it's a bit early yet to be advertising for Christmas temps the last week of August.

Yeah, I saw that. Hard to predict just how temporary it may be. But look at it this way. Like credit, once you have a single reference regarding a paying job, it may lead to another one. And another, and another. A single paying job just might lay the groundwork for what you are pursuing.

Good luck, Rich.

One cannot be clumsy with jewelry. Those fiddly tiny clasps and chains drive me nuts! I make and sell jewelry online sometimes, and I don’t due anything delicate or breakable. If you can not handle jewelry in a professional setting, time to practice getting that right.

Selling jewelry is a fashionable sales job, and it’s really important to look your very best. Unless it’s just cheap costume jewelry in a mall somewhere, but still, groom to the nines, and look dashing!
