I.Q. 131 normal for an aspie?

It sounds to me like that's a reasonable IQ for an Aspie. I've only taken one IQ test, and that was when I was in 6th grade. My score was 125. That's not genius level, but higher than "above average." I've looked it up, and they call it "very highly intelligent." Their little pigeon-hole designations crack me up ... lol.

When I was diagnosed seven years ago I was given the Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence and the 16PF personality measure. The IQ test result was 135 and the personality test said that I was very highly introverted. These results surprised me because don't feel all that smart or introverted. Since I was diagnosed, do feel like I know my self better.

Very super ok good above average intelligence

I have never taken an "official" IQ test. I tend to score around 140 on the online ones but I'm not convinced that the online ones are all that accurate or even asking questions that have a lot to do with IQ. Also, I don't believe my intelligence is anything remarkable.. I just have a particular way of thinking which is well suited to answering the sort of questions they ask on online IQ tests correctly ;)

The average IQ is 90-110. I'm not sure if Aspies have their own special category. My personal IQ is 137. I'd like to take another test because I feel like I can score higher.

I'm not so sure Aspies are naturally more intelligent; but rather we are more interested in learning than we are the material world around us. But I'm new to all of this and that's just a novice theory.

Supposedly, the IQ of those with Aspergers ranges from normal to above normal.
My IQ is 160, according to a MENSA test.

Yeah, mine varies dependent on how the test is presented (I have specific learning difficulties in a few areas, so the standard written down test leads to a deviance of around 10-15 points) but in the verbal one it was around 135 I believe. But I am a firm believer that IQ is not a great measure of intelligence. It tells you how well people do with specific areas of testing, but intelligence is very much different from IQ. It's not an amazing model for intelligence, but it is the best model that has been developed at this time so I guess we can go with it XD

I did one at about 15 and I scored above 132. They didn't give me an actual number, just a "your IQ is in the top x % of the population" and I worked it out. I think by definition aspies have normal intelligence or above, so anything above 85

Whats a normal IQ for an individual with Asperger's?
According to Judges link above, I did the test some time ago and my IQ is 140, in the top 99.62% of the general population. However, having an interest in psychology, it's apparent that we don't actually know what intelligence is, so any test we develop to measure it is no more than a rough guide at best, completely arbitrary at worst.. no matter how well I may understand quantum physics, say, if I struggle to just barely get by out in the real world, if I'm unable to understand the protocols and rituals surrounding socialisation, who's the intelligent one, me, or the guy with lots of friends, partners and fulfilling social life?
Seems to me that intelligence is only appropriate and measurable in relation to your environment. :)

Based on every chart I can find, 130+ is at the top of the chart and called "extremely intelligent" or "very superior" ... So we are sitting good, guys. ;)

I landed at the 156 marker years ago using the Stanford-Binet test which is considered a generalized testing procedure.
This winter,I want to take the Mensa test to see where exactly I stand on their consideration.
IQ is basically an indicator of your ability to learn, not what you know.

I did an IQ test when I was 21, the examiner just told me that I'm in the top 2%, I don't know what the actual number is. I'm sure I'd do much worse on an online one as I'm severely dyslexic and it would take me ages to read the questions  I seem to remember reading somewhere that aspies tend to have above average iintelligence, so I'm guessing the 110-140 range is not uncommon for us... :turtle:

I have never had an official iq test, but i usually score 120s-130s on the online tests, but I really cant be sure unless I took a real one. Even so, what is having a high IQ going to do for me? I still couldnt work in a science lab, like i'd like to. I may as well be 70 IQ'ed and like it. Yes, im bitter about life sometimes...
