As when I post things, people think "Not him again!" :D

(Or they never read what I write! Usual reaction...)

Autism has its advantages...

A bit lonely though!

I always read things that interest me. Like your post. I feel like you on the "other" social media platforms like FB!!! I have weened myself off these platforms as they really depress me. There's a new word in the dictionary, on the news today, called "enshittification"! Really!! And it describes how bad regular social media has become. It's so true.

In fact I just recorded a parody using one of my favourite Cliff Richard songs, from Eurovision 1968! Enjoy

Just this morning I got a notification from MyGov saying that they're changing their name to MyID. So that's how they're going to enforce the age limits on social media accounts. A lot of people will arc up over that, especially in Melbourne, but I think it's a great idea.

Not old enough to pay tax, not old enough to post on TikTok. Added bonus with this system is government officiated identities on social media, online stalkers and bullies will be easily identified.

I tried using the MyGovID app when applying for my pension. I couldn't get it to recognise my face compared to my passport. They say to remove your glasses, then I couldn't read the prompts about moving my face closer etc. !!! Ended up going to Centrelink and they fixed it for me.

I don't use phones at all. It was just 5 years ago when I finally came back out of the rainforests and phones don't have buttons on them any more. Totally foreign and not very user friendly, I hate them with passion.

But trying to get anything done with Centrelink through the web is hopeless. Yet they'll keep telling you to go back home and try again. When I was getting on the pension I visited the same office 4 times in one day, the security guard started smirking every time I came back through the door. :)

In the end I made a clone of my system on to a laptop and took that in and plonked it on the woman's desk. "Show me how." She couldn't, she admitted that their website was hopeless. I have the same trouble with my bank too. Walk through the front door and talk to someone - "Here's my phone, you do it.". :)

Many of my relatives and neighbors use cell phones with buttons. Smartphones are considered dangerous tools of Satan by the community.

I had just spent many years in a very remote region in the tropics where no one had phones because there was no reception, so 12 years later I came out to a few surprises. I've been a bit of a computer geek since the 80s but for some reason I just can't take to phones. There's a mental block there.

[Edit] Just thought I should add that you can get away with this stuff a lot easier when you're older, not that that ever slowed me down in my youth. :D

I wrote you once and you did not reply so I stopped replying.

I do not remember not replying. May have had a tew things happening. Didn't mean to not reply. Do you mean via a PM or a forum post? Just checked PM's and only ever had communication with three people so far. Nothing else has come through that I can see.

I do remember someone writing to me in the chat part of the site but it did not appear on my screen until I saw it after I had logged out and logged back in the next day. Was it in the chat?

I responded to a post. It is okay if you could not, I am not mad at you. Sometimes people write so much to me when I start a topic I cannot respond to everyone and I feel bad but I really cannot, it is overwhelming.

When I wrote something and you did not write back I thought you were not interested in what I said or that I said something wrong, so I stopped replying to your threads. I am overcautious, worrying about bothering someone. It is not good critical thinking but I have gotten into trouble with people all my life and I cannot take someone being upset with me any more so I try to be very careful.

Do not worry at all. Even if we have differences of oppinion on any given subject, does not mean one needs to refrain from a reply.

Sometimes I may not read all replies as it depends what I am dealing with at the time, or how tired I am etc, etc. There are very few people out there I purposfully ignore. You are not one of them, so don't worry.

In my grandma funeral the daughter of the wife and her of my uncle, were glued to their phones, i already didn't use them, less after seeing how people everywhere even in cars and walking the street in dinners and even funerals can't leave their phones.

In case I wasn't clear: They use "dumb phones", cell phones with just a few basic features - calling, texting, camera, calculator, etc.
