Hi

It's weird but a video got me think rethink my life and understanding that I was always terrible weird for everyone, got called weird or shy as kid, get starred at for weird eating habits I even have rituals to order my pillows a certain way otherwise I'll not be able to sleep because it's uncomfortable for me.

There so much things I always thought are normal, but I learned everything I do isn't normal. My family accepts me I guess, but I feel like a alien and can't really talk with family because I don't know how to have a real conversation, I can talk with my few friends I got hours about anime and other comic stuff, I'm terrible obsessed with art and anime for specific characters I love I even memories the whole biography.

I love numbers and having always a conversation ongoing in my mind to know what to say to a person even if it's a simple hello. I can't do simple task like making a phone call I don't really understand how it works or to have not a one sided conversation.

I have a friend with autism traits and she told me I'm like her. I'm terrible confused about everything because everything I did until now looks very abnormal and I would love to get more to know about autism. My friend even made a test online with me and got 42 out of 50 what makes me worrying too because I seriously don't know what to do would be nice if anyone could help. And I'm sorry for the long introduction text ><

Hi Yuki and welcome!

I like anime too! My two favorite series are Haibane Renmei and Cowboy Bebop. I also like Spring and Chaos a lot. I never get tired of watching that one. What are your favorite anime films?

Our community is friendly and helpful. Feel free to explore the forums and ask questions. Happy trails!

Meanwhile you should consider talking to a mental health counselor. Let that person know about your concerns. Find out what's going on instead of wondering.

Tha you and my favorite are the persona series, bungou stray dogs and the movies from ghibli. I want to get help from a doc but I don't know how to start the talking with him about my worries and the autism. Do you have any tips how to start such conversations with a doctor?

Is it possible for you to find a specialist? Then it's so much easier to discuss. Welcome to the site.

Welcome! I hope you find this forum as welcoming and helpful as I have. Reading about other peoples' experiences here has helped me a lot. Sometimes I find tips that help me cope, and sometimes it's just good to know that someone else has experienced what I am experiencing. I hope you find what you need here.

Hi Yuki and welcome, for me when i believed i had Autism it was a strong drive to find out if this was true, the need to understand, became very important and since diagnosis it's been a long and sometimes difficult journey towards self acceptance and developing strategies to 'fit in' to N/T ideas of 'normal/expected behaviour, i now have good 'masking ' skills and with my few friends can be the real me, i guess i'm sharing my experiences to ask the question 'what will a formal diagnosis give you' as this forum have given me more advice, assurance and a sence of community and is free unlike my diagnosis that over 10 years ago cost over £600 and put me in debt, good luck with finding a specialist if that's what you decide is the best path for you.

Great question!

Begin by writing down the things that concern you. List the behaviors that you think should change. Describe the challenges you face because of your condition. Identify the things that you find difficult to understand. Talk about the day-to-day things that annoy you. Once you get started all this and more will come to you. That information will give your doctor or counselor a starting point for helping you. Most importantly, begin to explore your own feelings. It may take you a while to find the right words but that is normal. Allow yourself whatever time you need. You are worth it!

BTW I love every Studio Ghibli film I have seen. I can't decide which one is my favorite. I will have to look up the other ones you mentioned. Thanks for the tip!

Welcome Yuki!

I never thought about my behaviours as abnormal when I was younger even though sometimes
someone would mention it to me.
After diagnosis, finding this forum was of great help as I found so many others had traits like
I have. Really had no idea so many of my odd ways was from being on the spectrum.

Read around here and ask anything you are looking for. Hope you learn a lot and find
self understanding here as much as I have.

Hi and welcome, there's lots of friendly people here, and useful information and resources. Saying something or someone is 'abnormal' can sound and feel a bit negative, how about thinking of yourself as different in some interesting ways?
