Do you have a love of history and fine art?

Let's all create a thread of classical works of art.

For the purpose of this thread, let's define Classical Art as being masterful artwork created at least 100 years ago.

It doesn't matter the culture or the medium of the artwork. Let's all just enjoy sharing and admiring historical works of art.

First saw his works in History of Art classes in college. A handful of people over the years have compared my style to his, which is quite a compliment.

Posing, fun with anatomy, composition, simplified shapes in contrast with a mastered understanding of fabric. This guy could be around drawing today and he wouldn't be out of place.

Viking wood carvings in a portal in Urnes stave church, from the 11th century. The struggle between the serpent and the great beast represents the onset of Ragnarok, the end of the world and the entire universe.
